Money

Money is the blood of the modern world, it is one of the strongest forces that connects us. It is basically a medium for exchange. Because of this it often seduces those who seek power and this seeking power is what causes corruption.

Hating money

Hating money comes from two false ideas, that power corrupts and that money is power. But really it is those who seek power who are corrupt and they use money as their tool.

Money in the hands of the fearful can be a very dangerious tool indead. Fearful people use money to try and increase their control of everything. These people are often seduced by money seeking it endlessly to try and fill that feeling of not being in control. This fear overrides ethics and so they feel justified doing horrible things in their pursuit of power.

The fact is money is a neutral enabling force in society it can be used for great good and for great evil but is itself neither. I used to fear having too much money. I overcame that fear at the time I came to trust myself to act ethically, or at least more ethically than my peers. Now I want as much as will come my way so I can attempt to do good things with it!

So in realising my own value and gaining trust in my own judgement I lost my fear of money. The hate of money was really a lack of belief in myself and perhaps an unconscious realisation that I was capable of doing many bad things and that money may enable me to do them. I was not sure I would not be seduces by it and become one of the people seeking power for control.

Loving money

Sure money is really useful but it also depersonalises many of the exchanges that it facilitates. We would do well to try to keep this in mind when buying things, everything we buy may have hidden costs either in human misery, animal misery or destruction of the worlds resources.

Money can also give us the false sense of control I spoke about earlier. No matter how rich we are some drunk driver can blind side us tomorrow. Life is never fully in our control, if we have a fear of change and the unexpected then money won't fix it. We have to face the fear itself not try and dodge it with money.

That being said having a safety net is a great way of lowering stress. Even though money cant give us total control it can often help soften the impact of some unexpected life changes. Just don't forget some people don't have enough to feed themselves! How valuable is our peace of mind vs the value we can create with our money?

Not having money

I can say it's good to experience not having enough money. It helps give us some perspective into how valuable money can be. But not having money can be very stressful not too mention dangerous for our health!

This site is really aimed at helping unlock the potential of people that do have money but if we don't and we have a support network we shouldn't be too proud to use it to find a safe way of living from day to day. In most western countries governments have programs to keep people fed and sheltered. Use them! Remember coming on hard times happens to us all, it doesn't make us less valuable or diminish our potential, believe in that potential and find a way to let it shine!

Lies society tells us

Because money is the blood that makes things work it is also highly sought after. Every company seeks more money and many aren't ethical enough not to stoop to some pretty low tactics. It is always one of the primary goals of a company to get more money. Everyone has been fooled into buying something they don't really want.

Some advertising has become mixed up in our values, physical appearance for example never used to be such a big deal but as more and more companies become successful at selling the next wonder water that makes your skin softer then having softer skin becomes a bigger and bigger deal for us all.

Things like diamond rings and weddings have become more and more commercialised over time until they become a part of our culture. As we become richer we can afford more and more of these weird cultural rituals and they become more and more ingrained into our culture. Christmas, Easter, End of financial year, Mothers day, Fathers day all becoming more and more commercial. Just like farm-ville they create social pressure to spend money.

Again remember people don't have enough money to eat, how important is having the biggest diamond really? Yet the size has become a symbol of the size of your love, that is simple social blackmail. It's great for the jewelery industry though!
